Alireza is a post-doctoral research fellow at InSysPo (Innovation Systems, Strategies and Policy) project at the Department of Science and Technology Policy (DPCT) based at the Institute of Geosciences (IG) in State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in the State of São Paulo in Brazil. The fellowship is funded by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
His current research directions are tended and focused on knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship (KIE), science, technology and innovation (STI) networks and STI policy, and social impacts of technology and innovation. The research lines are based on a data-driven, quantitative and applied economics approach.
Alireza was born on 12th of February, 1984 in Mashhad, Iran. He got a B.Sc. in electrical engineering (control engineering) and a M.Sc. in industrial management (operations) both at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Iran. Afterwards, he moved to northern Italy and got his ‘PhD in Economics and Management’ from University of Trento in September 2017. His doctoral dissertation is about public R&D policy impact evaluation using propensity score matching (PSM) and structural modeling estimations.
Alireza has gained teaching, research and managerial experience by instructing different courses, carrying out various research projects, and collaborating in managerial and organizational-level team projects at different firms and entities and in university-industry (U-I) projects. One of the most recent ones is being involved as a management consultant at a project on organizational transformation towards a virtual (matrix) structure in human resource department at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) as one of the leading European research institutes in Italy. He has also worked as a mentor for start-up projects at Contamination Lab (CLab Trento). He is a recognized regular referee and reviewer for European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR).
